WebThe church was built in the early 14th through to the 15th century, although there is evidence of an earlier 13th century structure in a chancel window, south side doorway and an incised carved tombstone in the South aisle. The interior was much remodelled in 1880 by James Fowler of Louth. It is a Grade 1 listed building. WebDeaconess Byllesby retired in 1943. On April 4, 1951 Christ Church achieved parish status at the 129th Convention of the Diocese of Georgia. Its membership continued to grow, a new parish hall was constructed in the 1950′s, and the church building itself underwent extensive remodeling in 1979. Thurlby is mentioned in the Domesday Book as a settlement of 18 households. Today it is a hamlet in the parish of Bilsby, but in medieval times it was a parish in its own right, with a church dedicated to St Mary, of which no trace remains. Earthworks have confirmed that the hamlet of Asserby is smaller today than in medieval times. Unlike Thurlby, it is not mentioned in Domesday and did not have its own church. hans tesmer buchholz
